Advanced Retreat
Ostensibly, Narcissus succumbs to a vision of himself. Painting and photography, while sharing reciprocal relationships of influence and contradiction, also draw upon similar myths of vision. Caught in an equivalent loop of information and imagery, this painting utilizes the same devices of projection, reflection, and vanity to transmit its surface.
