Michael Marks received his BA (emphasis painting; minor printmaking) from Georgia College & State University and MFA (visual art; emphasis painting) from Clemson University. Complementing diverse studio, research and collaborative interests, he is a cofounder of the ThreeCitiesGroup artist collective and the recipient of awards in the fields of studio art and art history. Utilizing both traditional techniques and contemporary conceptual flexibility, his work investigates the intersections of the past and present, the scientific and poetic, and the reproduced and handmade. His paintings, drawings, sculpture, animation, prints, and curatorial efforts have been exhibited nationally and internationally. He currently lives, works and teaches in upstate South Carolina.
